This was a present for a one year old boy. We gave him the book "If I Could Keep You Little". There is a line it that reads "If I could keep you little, I'd decide on matching clothes. But then I'd miss you choosing dots on top and stripes below." So to go with the book I got him a polka dot onesie and some matching shoes. I wrapped it in cellophane and tied it with some blue tulle. I attached a craft paper tag with a miniature clothespin.

book nook
I love reading picture books to my children. We have a special book shelf that I use to highlight holiday books and I switch them every month. In September there are books about going to school, October has Halloween books and above you'll see a picture of our Thanksgiving book collection. The children get excited to read these "new" books every month and I try to add a new one to our collection every year. If you don't have a book case you could also use a window sill, basket, or small table. It is like having your very own library right at home. As the kids get older I can start highlighting special authors or topics that they are studying in school.

the country bunny and the little gold shoes
(photo courtesy of Barnes & Noble)
This is my favorite Easter book for kids. I loved it when I was a little girl and enjoy reading it to my own kids now. I love that it has a strong female protagonist, a good message and beautiful illustrations. "It is difficult to believe that this very modern feminist tale was originally written in 1939. A gem of a fantasy in which kindness and cleverness win out over size and brawn." (Learning Magazine) This book would be a perfect addition for an Easter Basket. You can find this book here . How cute would it be if you also tucked in a pair of gold shoes! I found some here, here and here.
