april fools

I played a few April Fool's jokes on the kids today. I didn't tell them that today was April Fool's day so they wouldn't be expecting any tricks. My first trick was to serve them yogurt and apricot eggs! I made real eggs for my husbands breakfast so that it would smell like I had made eggs for them. My 5 year old son was totally fooled. he looked at me and said "you know I don't like eggs." He wouldn't go near it. So funny!

I packed them a tiny lunch for school and told them I hoped that they were really hungry! Of course, I packed their real lunches in their lunchboxes and tucked them inside their backpacks.

For dinner I made the children "taco salad" ice cream sundaes! They loved it. I also made real beef tacos which we ate for dessert. It was a fun day all around. I hope your day was just as fun and filled with a few laughs and maybe something sweet.

All of these ideas were found on Pinterest! You can follow my board here. I've already thought of a few I'm going to save for next year!

april fools

Boy do little kids love April Fools Day!  This morning my son's school had backwards day.  They wore their clothes backwards and even started their day outside which is usually saved for the end of their day.  Such fun.  I sent in an apple with a worm in it for my son's snack.  I told him I sent him a rotten apple.  When he got home I made lunch for all three kids (my oldest is home sick today.)

Last year for April Fools Day I made the kids a teeny tiny lunch.  They loved it so much I did it again this year and found some really cute additions.  I included a tiny banana, juice box, baby goldfish, and a bite size sandwich!  For dessert I gave them some candy peas and carrots.

I even put the food in tiny Ziploc bags!  I told them that I hoped they were hungry because I made them a really BIG lunch.  It was a hit!

I made some homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner, but for dessert I made ice cream potato's! My children don't care for potato's, much to my Irish husband's dismay, so it was pretty funny and they actually tasted quite good. Hope you are all having a fun day too!

april fools

In honor of the first day of April I served the children lunch in tiny lunchboxes!  They thought it was hysterical and asked if I could make it for them again.  I just put some mini cupcake liners in the metal lunchboxes than cut sandwiches in to tiny triangles, and added some baby carrots and pretzels.  Next time I want to put some baby goldfish in too!  For dessert they had tiny ice cream cones!  SO cute.  Even the baby had one.  For dinner I am making ice cream potatoes.  You can find the directions here.  Hope you enjoyed some giggles today too!
