that's a wrap

One of my dear friends just became a grandma for the first time.  I wanted to get her something special and when I saw these adorable cookies I knew they would be perfect!!!  On the card I wrote "grandma's are like mom's with frosting."  These would make great favors for a baby shower too. SO fun!

turkey talk

This is the first year that I will be hosting Thanksgiving.  I am having fun trying to figure out the table.  I have found some things that I thought I would share as some potential possibilities.  I first saw these plastic wishbones over at Busy Bee Lifestyle.  Aren't they fun!  They were inexpensive and arrived quickly.  I got one for each of the children, but I think adults would love them too.  I saw the feather lollipops while out on an errand and knew the children would love them.  They make cute favors and place cards for the kids table.  I also found these votive candles that have "give thanks" on them.  I put them on my mantle, but they would also make cute gifts or place cards.  The last thing I purchased were these fun individual turkey cookies.  Again a cute favor, place card or when boxed together like in the picture above, a wonderful hostess gift.  Let me know if you would like the sources for any of the items above.

king of our hearts

Since I did a "queen" theme for mother's day, I felt it only appropriate to do a king theme for my dad!  I found these adorable cookie tins (or only $4) and made some home-made crown shaped sugar cookies to put inside.  Since my dad went to graduate school at Oxford and met the queen of England once, he has always had a special place in his heart for the royal family.  He is the king of hearts in our family and I hope that he will love this gift as much as we all love him!

baby girls christening

We were invited to a christening last weekend.  I offered to make some sugar cookies and decided to use a cross cookie cutter.  I decorated them simply with some white icing and some lavender flowers that I found at our local cake decorating shop.  I continued the lavender and white theme with my wrapping paper too.  I attached a small white frame that I found at Michael's and tucked an Irish blessing inside.  The frame would also be cute as a gift tag, with a picture of someone special or even a gift certificate tucked inside.  For only $1 it is an inexpensive way to make a gift more unique and personal. 

"tea"rrific teacher

The teachers from my daughter's school threw a mother/child tea party last week. To thank them for all of their effort I made them these petite sugar cookies. I have had these tea themed cookie cutters for ages and have always wanted to use them for something. This seemed like the perfect opportunity. I originally made five cookies- the spoon, teapot, cup, cream pitcher and sugar bowl- but, then couldn't figure out a way to package all of them in a cute way. So, I used these three cookies and put them in a clear pillow box with purple shred and polka dot ribbon. I attached a tag that said "I think you are a "tea"rrific teacher!" This would also make a darling favor for a tea party or a fun gift idea for teacher appreciation week.

I made these cookies for my daughter to take to pre-school tomorrow. I think you can tell from my sons face that they probably taste better than they look!
