This was a birthday gift we gave to my dad this past weekend. I call it "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." He loves a local farm stand/market. They make their own apple cider and other baked goods too. I bought him some apple cider, pie, and apple cider donuts and put them in a basket along with a gift certificate. That way when he finishes what is in the basket he can go buy himself some more! I like to give gifts that people can use or eat- especially for older people who can sometimes be tricky to shop for. This would also be a thoughtful gift for someone who is sick with a tag that reads "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" or for a favorite teacher "an apple for the teacher."
